Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-09-11. Applies to the Highlight Harvest add-on for Google Docs™ and the website highlightharvest.com, operated by Geary Works ("we").

The short version

Highlight Harvest runs inside the Google Doc you have open. It reads that document's text and highlight colors to do its job, and writes highlights or a summary back into that same document when you ask it to. It does not copy your document anywhere, does not read your other files, and contains no analytics or tracking of any kind.

What the add-on can access

The add-on asks Google for exactly two permissions:

• The current document only (the documents.currentonly scope). This lets the add-on read the text and highlight colors of the document in which it is running, apply highlights to text you select, and append a Highlights summary when you click Insert. It cannot list, open, or modify any other file in your Google Drive.
• Show a sidebar and menu inside Google Docs (the script.container.ui scope). This is how the add-on's buttons appear in the document window. It grants no access to any data.

Add-on settings. Your highlight color names, your license key, and the date you first opened the add-on are stored in Google's per-user properties storage attached to the add-on. This data is stored by Google and is visible only to you and the add-on. Google keeps it even after you uninstall the add-on. To erase your color names and license key, click Erase my settings at the bottom of the sidebar. The trial start date is kept so that the free trial cannot be restarted; it is a single timestamp and identifies nothing about you.

What leaves your document

Nothing from your document is ever transmitted to us or to any third party. The only outbound network request the add-on makes is a license check: when you enter a license key, and about once a week after that, the add-on sends the key (and our public organization identifier) to Polar, our payment provider, to confirm it is still valid. No document content is included in that request.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Highlight Harvest's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In practice: we only use Google user data to provide the add-on's features inside your document, we do not transfer it to anyone, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not allow humans to read it except with your explicit permission for support purposes, for security, or to comply with law.

How we protect your data

• No servers of ours, no database. The add-on runs entirely inside Google's Apps Script environment and your browser. We operate no server that receives, stores or processes your document content, and we keep no database of users or documents. Data that is never collected cannot be leaked.
• Encrypted in transit. Every connection the add-on makes is over HTTPS (TLS): between your browser and Google, and the license check to Polar. The website is served only over HTTPS.
• Encrypted at rest. Your add-on settings (color names, license key, trial start date) are held in Google's per-user properties storage, which Google encrypts at rest and which is readable only by your Google account through the add-on.
• Minimum access. The add-on requests only the two permissions listed above. Document text and highlight colors are processed in memory while you click a button and are not retained afterwards.
• Restricted human access. No employee or contractor of Geary Works can read your documents or your add-on settings, unless you choose to share a document with us for support. The order details and support emails we do hold are accessible only to the business owner, through the Geary Works Google Workspace account and the Polar dashboard, each protected by its provider's account security.
• Payments. Card details go directly to Polar, a PCI DSS compliant payment provider; we never see or store them.
• Breach notification. If we learn of a security incident affecting data we hold about you, we will notify you at the email address we have for you within 72 hours.

AI and machine learning

We do not use any data obtained through Google Workspace APIs, including your document content, to develop, improve, or train generalized or non-personalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models. We do not share such data with any third party for that purpose.

Purchases

Payments are processed by Polar Software Inc. as merchant of record. When you buy a license, Polar collects your email address and payment details under Polar's privacy policy. We receive your email address and order details so we can provide support and issue refunds. We do not receive your card number.

Support email

If you write to support@highlightharvest.com, we keep the email so we can reply and handle follow-ups. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Website

This website is a set of static pages hosted on Vercel. It uses Vercel Web Analytics, a cookie-free page-view counter that records the page viewed, the referring site, and the visitor's country, browser, and device type. It does not use cookies and does not identify you personally or track you across sites. We do not run advertising scripts. Vercel may also record standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) to operate the service, as described in Vercel's privacy policy.

Data retention and deletion

Your color names and license key live in your Google account and can be erased at any time with Erase my settings in the sidebar; the trial start date stays, as described above. To delete purchase or support records we hold, email support@highlightharvest.com and we will remove them within 30 days, except where we must keep a record for tax or accounting purposes.

Children

The add-on is a general productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
